Monday, 21 August 2017, Hannover, Lower Saxony: The State Assembly of Lower Saxony in Germany has dissolved itself after a parliamentary vote triggered by the incumbent government’s loss of their fragile majority of seats at the legislature.

Since 19 February 2013 the state government had been led by the Social-Democrat Premier Stephan Weil in a coalition with the Green Party. Elections are scheduled to take place on 15 October 2017.
