The Malagasy National Independent Electoral Commission (Ceni) had been order to recount ballots from the 15 June elections after several requests poured in for that effect.

IRD, the political contingent supporting President Rajoelina now amounts to 84 seats out of 151 possible. However, he will have to win additional votes to pass his constitutional reform, which aims in particular to abolish the Senate and requires the approval of three quarters of the Assembly (114 votes).
