7-11 August 2019, Hanseatic and University City of Rostock, Mecklenburg West-Pomerania, Germany: Two special guests anchored on Wednesday, 7 August at Warnemünde, Rostock Harbour, namely the naval school ships hailing from Italy and Mexico, respectively ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ and ‘Cuauhtemoc’ for the XXIX edition of the ‘Hanse Sail’.
The vessel Amerigo Vespucci partakes for the very first time at the Hanse Sail. It was built in 1931, and offered open days for visitors to discover the spectacular ship.
On the other side, Mexico’s Cuauhtemoc participates for the third time on the Hanse Sail. It is due to sail further to Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein) and Hamburg as part of its ‘Northern Europe 2019’ voyage.
In Rostock the vessel Cuauhtemoc was welcomed ceremoniously by the Mexican Ambassador to Germany, Rogelio Grangillhome Morfín accompanied by Rear Admiral Esteban Martínez Maya, Colonel José Jesús de Lara Ceballos as well as the Mayor of Rostock, Roland Methling and the XI President of Germany, Prof. Joachim Gauck, who is an honorary citizen of Rostock as well as a sailing aficionado.
