On 12 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, paid an official visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC), accompanied by his spouse, Ms. Suzanne Innes-Stubb. The Finnish delegation was received by ICC President Judge Tomoko Akane and ICC Registrar Mr. Osvaldo Zavala Giler.
During the visit, Judge Akane expressed her appreciation to President Stubb for Finland’s steadfast support of the Court, including its generous contributions to the Trust Fund for Victims. She underlined the crucial role of the ICC within the current international order and emphasized that sustained support from States Parties remains essential for the Court to effectively fulfil its judicial mandate.
President Stubb’s visit underscored Finland’s long-standing commitment to international justice and the collective efforts to combat impunity for the most serious crimes of concern to the international community. Finland signed the Rome Statute on 7 October 1998 and deposited its instrument of ratification on 12 May 2003.
