The University of Ottawa in Canada is offering the first Public Diplomacy Certificate: Mastering Public Diplomacy
This Public Diplomacy (PD) course is addressed to diplomats, staff from ministries of foreign affairs and to individuals willing to develop novel techniques in international relations. In depth knowledge will be achieved thanks to the professional and direct guidance from our guest lecturer, a current senior diplomat possessing more than three decades of experience in the field.
Participants will be introduced to the world of diplomacy and the interaction between diplomatic missions and the civil society. Our program instills a new approach on how to properly implement PD projects under a cost-effective policy. In addition, former or current diplomats will be invited to contribute with their insights during some of our online sessions.
Conversely, a special attention will be paid on how PD shall not be performed. A series of successful practical exercises will be part of the syllabus. Students will understand why an increasing number of non-diplomats are hired by embassies and consulates to work as locally engaged staff for public diplomacy departments.
