Holland America Friendship Foundation (HAFF) in conjunction with the US American embassy to The Netherlands hosted the “Night of the Stars” traditional gala dinner on Monday, 13 April 2013. This year the gala was honoured with the attendance of HRH Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven, likewise of their youngest son, HH Prince Floris van Oranje-Nassau and his consort Princess Aimée.
The gala was held at the Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus in Scheveningen. The event is annually attended by guests from the Dutch and US American business, political and cultural élites. Hosts for the evening were US Ambassador, The Honorable Timothy Broas together with HAFF chair, Ms Karin Doeksen.
Israel’s ambassador, HE Haim Divon and his wife Linda also partook at the gala.
HAFF was created in 2003 to strengthen the friendship bonds between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the USA through educational and cultural exchange programmes.
Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven are patrons of the Netherland-America Foundation in New York which has similar goals to the HAFF.
