DIPLOMAT MAGAZINE “For diplomats, by diplomats” Reaching out the world from the European Union First diplomatic publication based in The Netherlands Founded by members of the diplomatic corps on June 19th, 2013. Diplomat Magazine is inspiring diplomats, civil servants and academics to contribute to a free flow of ideas through an extremely rich diplomatic life, full of exclusive events and cultural exchanges, as well as by exposing profound ideas and political debates in our printed and online editions.

The South African Embassy in The Hague is proud to announce its support of the International World Cinema Amsterdam that will have its 8th edition from 17–26 August 2017 at the Rialto Cinema in Amsterdam.

The festival is an international showcase of the most recent independent films from Africa, the Americas and Asia.

 

This year the Festival will have a special focus on African films.

In this regard, Rialto has selected the following 5 feature films from South Africa for screening:

• The Wound by John Trengove (Dutch premiere, 2016, 88 min)

• Vaya by Akin Omotoso (Dutch premiere, 2016, 110 min)

• Thina Sobabili by Ernest Nkosi (European premiere, 2015, 94 min)

• Tess by Meg Rickards (Dutch premiere, 2016, 88 min)

• Mrs Right Guy by Adze Ugah (European premiere, 2016, 92 min)

• Short film by Zanele Muholi

World Cinema Amsterdam attracks around 10.000 visitors during the course of the event and is organsied in partnership by the Rialto with the support of Dutch cultural film funds.

50 films will be screened at 6 venues across Amsterdam: Rialto, De Balie, Vondelpark, Oosterpark, Marie Heinekenplein and at the VU.

South Africans and friends are encouraged to support the event, especially South Africa Day on 20 August 2017.
