Monday, 4 March 2019, Berlin, French Embassy to Germany: Champagne label Veuve Clicquot bestowed upon the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award that dates back to 1972. The honoured women distinguish themselves for the innovation, creativity and social engagement in the business world.

More than 150 guests made their way intoo the French Embassy as this year’s patron was French Ambassador to Germany, Anne-Marie Descôtes. The evening was moderated by Loretta Stern.

The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award and New Generation Award pay homage to Madame Clicquot, the first woman to establish herself as such a leading woman figure in the business world. It was Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin who took over the champagne brand at the beginning of the 19th century as a 27-years old woman after the demise of her husband François Clicquot, and the latter in spite of the animosity held against her by her family, advisers and the general milieu.

In the end, she proved them wrong and led the company to international success. In the spirit of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin the awards are granted to particularly strong-willed and capable women in the business world since 1972 in France, and since 1984 in Germany.

The Prix Veuve Clicquot is bestowed upon women worldwide on different dates. A further gala was held for instance in Amsterdam at the Amstel Hotel on Monday, 18 March for Mireille Kaptein. In Germany, the winner was Verena Pausder from Fox & Sheep, HABA Digitalwerkstatt. Ms Pausder’s Digitalwerkstatt created a safe environment for children to learn how to deal with digital tools, experiment and play with them according to ages and with the goal of stimulating their cognitive learning skills.

Veuve Clicquot is a label belonging to the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE conglomerate of managed by CEO Bernard Arnault.
