NRW delegation to Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata

3-9 February 2019, Düsseldorf-India: North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister of Economy and Digitalisation, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart travelled to India specifically to the states of Karnataka (capital Bengaluru), to West Bengal (Kolkata) as well as to the National Capital Territory of Delhi for bilateral as well as business meetings.

Minister Prof. Dr. Pinkwart described India before his journey as a “diverse, attractive and rapidly growing market with 1,3 billion people that was little heeded by the previous government”. His predecessor in office visited India merely in 2008. Focus for the delegation was energy, engineering and IT services.

An overview of the programme included:

Delhi: political meetings with members of the federal government. Minister Pinkwart met representatives of Tata Steel concerning the Photovoltaik system project of Steag for the Indian market.

In Bengaluru the markets explored were IT services and information exchange technologies.

In Kolkata Minister Dr. Pinkwart held meetings with his colleagues from the federal state of West Bengal, and partook at the West Bengal Global Business Summit. The latter enticed above all business people from the markets of engineering, trade, energy and chemistry.
