29-30 May 2024, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Germany: Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev paid his inaugural visit to Hamburg. During the visit, the first meeting with Jan Pörksen, Head of the Hamburg Senate Chancellery, took place. The flag of Azerbaijan flew over the historic Hamburg City Hall. The ambassador informed his interlocutor about the history, culture, economy, traditions of multiculturalism and foreign policy of Azerbaijan. There was also an exchange of views on strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Hamburg.
Ambassador Nasimi Aghayev subsequently met with Malte Heyne, General Manager of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Jan Rispens, Managing Director of Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster Agency GmbH and Sven Daniels, partner of HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH. During the meetings, discussions were held on cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, regional transport and transit projects, renewable energy, digitalization, as well as cooperation within the framework of COP29.
Ambassador Nasimi Aghayev also attended the meeting of the Eastern Europe Working Group of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. The ambassador informed the participants in detail about Azerbaijan’s role in the Middle Corridor, regional transport projects, energy transition and preparations for hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan. At the event, the ambassador also spoke with representatives of leading Hamburg companies and invited them to visit Azerbaijan. The Ambassador was accompanied to the meetings by Dr. Elman Muradov, Counsellor for Economic Affairs.
During the visit, Ambassador Nasimi Aghayev also met with members of the Azerbaijani community in Hamburg. At the meeting, the ambassador spoke about the importance that the Azerbaijani government attaches to the development of the diaspora, listened to the suggestions of our compatriots and exchanged views with them.
The Ambassador also met with Emine Derya Kara, Consul General of Türkiye in Hamburg, and discussed issues of further strengthening the coordination work between their communities.
